Facsimile reprint of the 1903 edition. 

The objective of this facsimile reproduction is to rescue the costumes, ornaments, colors, shapes and textures of the indigenous dresses, as well as the explanation of their manufacture in relation to the geographical environment and the historical space. The titanic task of Antonio Peñafiel in the matter of ancient clothing contained here, is a clear example of his knowledge about Mexican imagery and of his constant work to collect, classify and save the materials found both in the libraries and museums of Europe, as well as in those in private collections in Mexico and the old world.
