The work Breve explicación de puntos de la doctrina cristiana en la "Doctrina cristiana" mexicana (Declaration and Explanation of Christian Doctrine in the Mexican Spanish Language), attributed to friar Pedro de Córdoba, friar Juan de Zumárraga, and friar Domingo de Betanzos, is a catechetical summary created by Dominicans in New Spain. Although the best-known edition dates back to 1548, it was reprinted in the 19th century and circulated in versions like this one from 1893, keeping the core content of Catholic doctrine adapted to Mexican language and customs.

According to this work, Christian teaching is organized around the fundamentals of faith and Christian life: Belief in one God. The unity of God is professed, Trinitarian: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God in three Persons, creator and sustainer of the universe," is a catechetical summary developed by Dominicans in New Spain.

In the 1893 edition, the text stayed true to the original structure, with brief and clear explanations, adapted to Mexican language and to the understanding of the indigenous and mestizo population. It served as a catechetical guide for catechists and for religious instruction in rural communities. The text is almost entirely written in Nahuatl.
