One sheet. Folio (12" x 8 1/2") folded leaving one blank. Hand written with signature.

From the Archbishop of Mexico Francisco Xavier de Lizana y Beaumont, who was at the same time Viceroy of New Spain, directed to Don Diego de Agreda who was at the time director of the “Junta de Caridad del Hospicio para Pobres”.

The Archbishop requests to Mr Agreda, as the hospice is full, to choose those men he seems to be fit for military service and those men he seems fit for public works. He should send the men fit for service to the Sergeant Major and those fit for public works to be sent to the Alcaldes ordinarios.

In the future, he needs to do these same selections without waiting for a request.

Light edge wear with four folds else very good.
