Rare text celebrating the Jesuits, with substantial information on the Americas including references to Jesuit missions in Mexico, Paraguay, Brazil, and Peru, as well as the Philippines, Japan, and China. Gomez describes Jesuit universities and gives biographies of important Jesuits.

Cristobal Gomez (1610-1680) was a Spanish Jesuit who served as a missionary in Paraguay beginning in 1632; while there he was professor of philosophy and theology at Cordove du Tucuman, and served as Provincial in the last four years of his life.

Condition: Nicely rebound with moderate toning and foxing to contents, old in signature to heal title else very good.
