Dos Cultos Fundantes: Los Remedios Y Guadalupe (1521-1649)
Author: Francisco Miranda Godinez
Year: 2001
Publisher: El Colegio de Michoacán
Place: Morelia
Description:
557 with color plates, appendices, bibliography and index. Small folio (11" x 8 1/2") bound in original publisher's blue pictorial wrappers. First edition limited to 1000 copies.
This subject is central to the religious life of Mexico, and although it has been studied by a large number of historians it is still a subject which requires more in depth perusal. This is a very controversial subject and needs to have more introspective study. This work is based on an investigation of years in various archives in Mexico and in Spain, as well as reviewing the classical works on the subject, in texts that had not yet explored and in all the literature on both cults. All sources have been handled with professionalism and objectivity. The interpretive work is exemplary. It is a work written not only for professionals of history, not only for clerics, but for a wide audience, notwithstanding the inclusion of extensive documentary texts.
Condition:
Light edge wear else a near fine copy.
