Brief relation of the public demonstrations with which the Consulate of Mexico Solemnized the return to the throne of Spain of Mr. Don Fernando Séptimo.
The Viceroy decreed celebrities on the liberation of the King Fernando VII from the French. This document describes the festivities organized by the Consulate of Mexico City. They decorated the temple of San Francisco, and it describes the decorations: "revestido en lo interior de ricas colgaduras de terciopelo carmesí, y adornado con gran cantidad de arañas y candiles de plata….". They placed a portrait of the King on a chair with carpet and pillow and the Viceregal Guard kept guard during the ceremony. At night they lit 3000 oil lamps on the tower. They also decorated the building of the Consulate and the building of the Commerce Regiment.
The day of the sermon the church was completely full, they started singing. During the ceremony, the grenadiers of the Regimiento del Comercio discharged their rifles in honor of the King. After the ceremony, a procession departed from the temple. There is a detailed description of the participants of the procession, including the streets they toured.
