This volume takes the Record Society into somewhat neglected territory. John McLdean's Notes of a Twenty-five year's Service in the Hudson's Bay Territory is still the foremost sources of the region's history in the first half of the nineteenth century. The following notes abut the physical appearance and history of the records contained in this volume are worth recording. With the exception of brief extracts printed in the appendix to the Labrador Boundary Commission's Report none has been previously published. James Clouston's journal in the Company's archives is in his own hand. Anthony Hendry's own journal is entitled "Journal of voyage to the mouth of South River for the purpose of determining its precise situation etc in the Company's archives. The next four records Nicol Finlayson's journal, Erland Erlandson's first and second journals, and Clouston's Ungava Report.
