George Kubler was an American art historian and among the foremost scholars on the art of Pre-Columbian America and Ibero-American Art. His second book, Mexican Architecture of the Sixteenth Century, appeared in 1948 which was a momentous work focusing primarily on church architecture and its development in the fifteen hundreds. He chaired the department of art at Yale between 1953-1956.
