The Hill collection was one of the finest private collections of books and manuscripts on Pacific voyages assembled in our generation. Collected by Kenneth E Hill, of New York, and placed on deposit in the ultramodern Central University of Library of the University of California at San Diego, the Collection covers nearly all of the important explorations and discoveries made in the Pacific area and in the western North and South America up to 1855. The collection of 950 titles is especially rich in English, French, Russian, and American accounts. As befits a collection of this stature, quality craftsmanship in printing and binding completes this unique scholarly bibliography.
