Apostolic Brief establishing the general statutes for the foundation and government of the “Custodias de Misioneros”, in the internal provinces (“Provincias Internas”) of New Spain. The “Custodias”, translated as “custodians”, were members of the Catholic clergy that were sent to missions in remote places to direct the evangelizing tasks and spread the faith. These statutes establish the way those custodians were selected, the period they were to remain in the missions, and their faculties. The “Provincias Internas” was an administrative district of New Spain formed by the territories of present-day northern Mexico and southwestern United States: Coahuila, Texas, New Mexico, Durango, Nuevo León, Sonora and California.

Worming to lower gutter margin intruding into text in the latter pages; in "N. 34" at top of title page else very good overall.
