The lack or scarcity of the practitioner population patterns over long periods of Michoacan in the seventeenth century , has deprived the researcher of valuable sources of first order to meet the levels and forms of composition of the population of that country's nuclear area that was integrated into the vast bishopric of Michoacan. That the very limited sources and their importance to document the process that follows the Mexican population in the century of its greatest integration, amply justifies their rescue and publication. This book provides an outline of the population and a synthesis of the historical geography of each and every one of the areas of the Great Michoacan bishopric covering within a single ecclesiastical demarcation of villages, towns and cities ranging from the Pacific coast (currently Guerrero , Michoacan and Colima) to southern Tamaulipas , along with the entire state of Michocan and much of Guanajuato, Jalisco and San Luis Potosi. For a more comprehensive estimate of the documents comprising this book is necessary to consider at least two broader dimensions of context: one corresponds to the textual genre of relationships within which the patterns occur; the other relates to the reality of the population, the recovery process refers to the entire country from the mid-seventeenth century.
