Many styles are considered, with emphasis on the two great but quite different wares in which the collection is richest: the early, highly symbolic and decorative Paracas vessels from the south coast of Peru, and the painted and realistically modeled ceramics produced by the Mochia in the north, who were among the most accomplished potters the world has every known.
